Daisies on a can

Super-short post this morning just to show you the finished daisy tuna can.

I’m quite pleased with this and it’s been getting a good reaction on Instagram. I did take care over it, layering the gouache. In watercolours, one seems to have to layer from light to dark. With gouache, to achieve depth, it’s better to layer from dark to light.

It’s not perfect (the light on the middle bit (stamen/pistil/stigma/whatever it’s called) isn’t on the correct side) but I’m happy that the flowers look different from each other, that they’re at slightly different angles, and that they have some expression. That’s quite important to me.
